El Sereno Community Garden
The head of our local community garden identified a need to beautify the garden and thought that the recycled plastic panels that we make could be a great addition as a mural on one of their retaining walls. For this project, over 250 pounds of recycled plastic panels that we installed in the community garden. This project was funded by the Neighborhood Council LA 32 as their first initiative to fight plastic pollution and homelessness.

Face ShieldsDuring the COVID-19 pandemic peak, it became critical for front line workers to have the necessary PPE. Face shields are a perfect opportunity for us to make an impact by making these items out of recycled plastic instead of virgin plastic. We iterated through a few different mold designs to come up with one that worked well for local organizations in need. Here’s what the face shields looked like.
1. We are one of only a handful of agencies that offer supportive and service-enriched affordable housing for homeless individuals and families living with mental illness in Los Angeles County. |
2. Los Angeles Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen

About: Our soup kitchen, commonly known on the street as “The Hippie Kitchen,” is located in the downtown neighborhood of L.A.’s Skid Row. With more than 60,000 unhoused people in Los Angeles County, including more than 5,000 in the skid row area, with its numerous street encampments, rescue missions, and single-room occupancy hotels, Los Angeles has been dubiously named “the homeless capital of the nation.” Moreover, the 50 square block area known as Skid Row is also the most policed area in the nation
3. Clinica Romero - community healthcare clinic that supports underserved communities

provide quality, affordable and culturally sensitive health care and other services to the uninsured, insured and underserved communities of greater Los Angeles regardless of their ability to pay by upholding the legacy and tradition of Monseñor Oscar Romero.

Phone cases in partnership with Global Initiative Alliance
Global Initiatives Alliance approached us in that they believed in the 1 Plastic Life vision and were concerned with how they could make an impact with reducing plastic pollution. The students recognized the amount of waste that goes into cell phone cases and wanted to take a stand. We worked to create a mold for an iPhone 10 case with them. The cases can be purchased on our

Combs for I Want to Go to paradiseZero Waste Comb!
Made from 10 recycled plastic bottle caps and comes in a 100% biodegradable ziplock bag. I owe my curls to my Australian/Somali heritage. I wanted to make an environmentally friendly hair styling comb, and I worked out how to do it with recycled bottle caps! It's named after my grandfather, Patrick Liddle who was a hairdresser to the stars in Melbourne in the 1960's! A comb made out of lids! For Mr Liddle! Beer tap handles for Surfridge BrewerySurfridge Brewery is a microbrew based in El Segundo, California and they wanted their business to be as sustainable as possible. Upon learning about 1plasticlife, they became interested to make a statement with their beer tap handles that they are made out of 100% locally recycled plastic. Being close to the beach, they want to keep our oceans beautiful, they wanted to develop a sustainable tap handle design built for their beers. environmentally conscious business owners with a desire to keep our beautiful oceans beautiful, we wanted to develop a sustainable tap handle design and build for our beers. We developed a beer tap handle mold for Surfridge Brewery that is 100% produced in the United States, from repurposed plastic found during beach clean-ups and other local collections. To date we have built over 200 tap handles and continue to make more as Surfridge Grows and gets distributed to more bars and restaurants.

ADIDAS PARLEY RUN FOR THE OCEANS LAKeychains
In partnership with Precious Plastic Los Angeles, we did on-site event activations at their Run for the Oceans events where participants were able to make a recycled plastic keychains on-site out of plastic that was shredded at the event.
